Maybee I'm just asking a stupid question but this seems weird to me. I'm used to instant messenger where you can put yourself in invisible.

I've camped a few timed overnight at those dance for linden places and last night I turned off the "show online status" to all my friends in list hoping that I would just show offline and they wouldn't wonder why I didnt answer. I woke up this morning to find a few of them asking where I was and I had to explain to them that I was not on the computer.

And today after I turned it back on (online status) one of my friends commented she was just getting on too. So.. To put it simply is this a problem with my client or sl server or am I barking up the wrong tree? It seems like at least one person has seen me and one didn't.

Thanks,
Kara

Welcome to the wonderful world of SL.

"Presence" (online indicator) and the behaviour of the friends list tend to be flaky, so what you experienced isn't out of the norm, nor is there a fix for it.

LOL
I love your response "welcome to the wonderful work of sl"! and appreciate it being so quick

That is a silly bug, but I've had worse problems with sl than that. Oh well, at least it's not me. Hopefully sl with start fixing those sort of things soon

It's been a bug for months now: if you hide your online status for someone, it'll only work if that person is already online (they won't see you log on, normal behaviour).

If they log on when you're already online they'll see you online whether you have it checked or not (eg the bug).
