Lets see, starting off, I am from Portugal, so my keyboard uses the portuguese settings (different of US settings).

The problem is that I can't do any special characters, because well...they don't match to the US settings, and in the game settings I didn't find anything related to keyboard profile..so I can change it to the right one (portuguese)

I never had a problem with the keyboard profile, most games just uses the windows settings for this, and since I have it set to portuguese, well...it just uses that....and this game doesnt..

So! I want to know if there is any way to change this, so when I try to type a "?" it shows a ?...and not this "

Thank you for your help.

Yeah, this is one of the more embarassing problems with SL -- particularly for the Linden who was responsible for writing the original code in the first place. :)

They're fixing it in 1.6, though, but that won't be released for another month or so. Most non-US users either use US keyboards, or just copy and paste. It's annoying, but they ARE fixing it soon.

Hi Sasha. Good thing I read your thread, 'cause I was just about to make one about the issue of my own.

I have the same problem. My keybosrd is Norwegian, and I have to change the language setting to English (US) every time I want to make a special character, and they don't belong on the right keys, which more than often makes my typing slower, and if I don't pay attention and hit the usual keys for the characters without noticing, I end up with some strange markings. The most embarassing one for me (and the most frustrating) is when I want to make a :-), and end getting :-(. People get confused, some get outright offended, and I have to explain to them that it was a typo. So, you're not alone :)

Good to hear they're doing something about it though :)

Cheers :)

Using an spanish keyboard I have the same problem that you. What I found most helpful is going to the Control Panel of my windows and add a new languages settings configured with an US keyboard. Then after starting SL I change the setting to english. This way even if you don't have an US keyboard your own will work as one, and then it is a matter to learn and remember where the characters are.

I hope this little tip helps you.
