What on earth will it take for all this mess to be worked out? How long does it have to get worse and worse before improvements are made? and additionally how much money does Linden Labs need to pull in to put towards better equipment, better solutions and further provide a service that is worth the kind of money that many put into it?

Each update provides numerous issues which many go unanswered or unresolved. Hitting Live Help these days yields the general "File a bug report" which takes weeks to even to get a reply and even then never see a resolve.

Texture issues, logging issues, crash issues, script isues that neevr end.

I think that I have paid Linden Labs enough money over a one year term that would warrant just a bit of support and service and I also know that I am not alone.

Excuse the frustration but its been well earned.

No idea what they are doing but SL pure crap as of late, lets see

Major Building bugs still around

Cutting prims all wrong (0.59 even when typed in as 0.6 ect)
Adding textures to prims randomly "forget" a side of a prim
Browsing textures can take anywhere from 1 sec to 5 min to rez 1

Texture rez a joke
Tron anyone?, enter a new sim wait forever to rez, turn around oh wait , time to REZ AGAIN, yes SL is always changing, but apperantly it cant remember a wall i just stared at a few seconds ago wich didnt change, wee cache broken

Mute breaks randomly
Quite fun this one, add someone to mute / object usually, relog hey its back didnt remember what was just added

Pc requirements out of controll
yeah yeah its all static streamed, but cache is broken wich leads to horrible performance, Avatar attachments killing.

Tried out a few of my friends pc's and mine for fps...har har these where the one i was on ;

fx-60 , 2gig ram , asus sli mb, 7800gt 256mb,
x2-4800, 4gig ram, asus sli mb, 6800gt 256mb,
x2-4200, 2gig ram, abit sli mb, 6800gt 256mb,
64-3500+, 2gig ram, asus sli mb, 6800gt 256mb,

None of these pc's did much for fps in SL, wasnt even in a heavy crowded sim to get <9 fps

So the 2 top had slightly more , but bah not for the amount of money you pay for it, is it worth it.

Physics
so bad it should just be disabled , whats the point in it, anything you do with physics in here will randomly kill a Sim.

Bet theres more i forgot, i been staring at screen about 15 min now, and the place im at is STILL not rezzed, oh gee shock, guess i should relog (again)

*shrug* my patience with SL is wearing thin, cant image how new users find it.

Welcome to SL...please wait...we're.....doing....something

It seems to send a separate packet to the server for each side, the more sides you have the more likely one will be lost (why they don't switch things like this to TCP I don't know). I've found that waiting a little after applying the texture makes it less likely to happen.

Gawd, if I got good enough performance that going to single digits was remarkable I'd take my video card to bed.

I agree some things are still wonky. I really love SL, despite its down sides, but sometimes I worry about its future when the same issues keep coming up, update after update.

For the most part I am still very optimistic about SL. But, please LL when are you going to fix the texture rez problems? I don't think they have been the same since 1.7, but there seemed to be some improvement until 1.9 rolled around. Now textures may or may not ever load. Some days my grass is grey and landscape are grey for eternity whether i relog or not. My store is taking longer than it ever did, but at least this morning the mouse over boxes trick seemed to work again, forcing textures to pop in like they used to.

I have also found animations are getting stuck since 1.9 and have yet to improve. Examples are scripted seats, poses, dances, instruments. This isn't only on my land or with me, but rather it seems to be happening all over the place. People just get stuck in animation and even tping no longer stop them. I have been handing out the Stop All Animations prim left and right lately.

Just in the last week I have been having some days where I am laggy no matter what. I haven't lagged in a long time, so I'm not sure what that is all about. :(

I really hope in the near future we will be interacting, trading and enjoying a more stable world. Tell us your listening and there is hope LL. I don't mind hearing that some issues are going to take a few months to resolve, if that is the case, just that you are aware and are truly working on them.

My take on this is that SL is unfixable in its present form. Period.

LL knows this and are currently just tinkering with it, balancing their server loads against client needs, employing work arounds like cache clearing, trying to keep it alive rather than implementing the proper fixes, new code and infrastructure required to support the ever increasing number of new players they've encouraged with free accounts, while adding trivial features to give the impression of development.

Haven't they pretty much said that they can't incorporate Havoc 2 ? their own Render Engine 2 ? That the asset server system is unscalable as it stands ? Those developments right there were once the progress that would fix the really major problems we had with SL. The rest I suspect, now stem from the incessant fiddling we're experiencing as they try to plug the leaks having failed to implement any real changes.

We're hearing nothing now about how SL will develop technically in the future like we used to, just more and more about the creation of new revenue streams for the company.

I still love SL, but I too am losing my faith as my ability to enjoy it deteriorates with every so called "upgrade". I want to build, texture and move around reliably, not force sunset with a different menu than before.

And indeed this is a reason for concern. When does the point come when LL decides they have made a nice profit and time to move on. Then we have simply lined pockets and had our grief for nothing.

I firmly believe that they have the finaces to fix this but rather then spend that money to do so, they can simply offer the plugs now and then which still do not resolve much and then it is safe for them to say "they are doing something".

If you look at other leading games out there, the technology does exist to offer a smooth gaming environment.

So why do we constantly spend our time dealing with problems, bugs, crashes, the inability to operate normally or run businesses smoothly? and when will we get some caring customer service and truth from LL or will we?

I think there is enough ppl in SL that feel the same frustrations and if we all were to truly express the concerns forthright it might cause someone to take notice and listen.

Everytime I see the marketing for SL go on as to draw more and more people into SL instead of fixing SL for those that pay their bills - that is cause for alarm.

I recently downgraded my account drastically as I could no longer take the fact that I have paid well over $200 per month for many months and in addiiton paid much higher at other times. Way too much money with all the problems. At this point I will hope for something to happen that is above and beyond the plugs and patches that sort things like "Chanigng the sun" opposed to ficing why I can't see textures properly or why people stay grey half the time along with the number of other issues which still progress downward.

I do not see the deployment of solutions as being linked to money, in the sense that money is needed to make the solutions happen. With the exception of the purchase of new hardware to support expansion, Linden Labs dosent really need to spend money in order to make the programmatic changes needed.

I have been saying for months and months that the caching hasnt been working. Stand on your own property, teleport to a shop, buy something without moving, teleport back to your property and ... nothing is loaded on your property. It's so totally obvious that the cache dosent do anything at all.

Fixing that wouldnt take any money, just someone to decide to throw out the old cache code and re-write it so that it works. The programmers are already on staff.

Just fixing this one issue would have a major impact too, probbably would have a cascade effect. Proper caching would reduce the amount of network traffic massively which would probbably solve other problems such as the packet loss many see, the server-side lag we all are experiancing, etc etc... not to mention that the users/members would feel better by not having to experiance these things

I cant imagine how something as simple as caching can stay broken this long.
