Verizon Cellphone Verification problems

Sent a friend an invitation to join SL. They completed the online application forms, giving a Verizon Cell phone number for ID verification.

The next step asks for the confirming code that is supposed to be sent to the relevant Cell phone to be entered. Nothing arrived. the person paged back and checked the number and it is correct, and tried to call it from their landline, and it works fine.

Since this happened over the weekend, they are not able to get a live body to help, so I emailed support on their behalf.

Any one else noticed a similar issue?

The Cell Phone needs to be SMS enabled, it was not.

SMS?

Same thing happened to my wife, with Sprint.

SMS = Short Message System, commonly known as Text Messaging.
