sence the patch today it keeps stopping at verifiying protcol version and after like 3 minutes boots me to log in screen and says unable to connect servers may be down blah blah. But i know they are not down cause everyone else i know can get in.

Uninstall. Completely.
Then download the client off the webpage and install with that.

It sounds like you may be trying to connect to the old userserver IP. Have you tried rebooting? Windows XP (some versions, anyway) like to cache domain names for longer than it should. Rebooting will clear that cache, which may help you out.
If that doesn't work, then contacting support is probably your best option.
