SL crashes within minutes of logging in. No blue screen, it immediately goes black and reboots. When i log back onto my desktop i have to restore my active desktop.

i have an nvidia geforce fx 5500 graphic card which should be sufficient to run SL

i have shutdown ALL antivirus programs that could interfere with the program before turning it on.

i reinstalled SL

i have deleted the SL cache files, which seemed to work until i changed an option in my preferences...it crashed a few seconds later (which could or could not be related to changing prefs).

nohing works... what is going wrong?

Hi,

I had the same problem, except I was using the Nvidia 5700 card. I solved my problem simply. In my case it was a silly Ram problem. I would assume you have more than 1 Ram chip in your machine. Take them out of the slots, blow out the slots with a can or compressed air, then when you put them back, put them in the opposite slots they were in before. If you have 3 Ram slots on your motherboard, put the Ram in the 1st and 3rd slots. Leave the 2nd one empty. I did this with mine and it is now rock solid. Give it a shot. I tried 3 different Video cards before I even thought it could be a Ram problem.

Good Luck
