From: Zazas Oz Hi I am thinking about buying this puter and wanted to know if it is a good pick for running SL... Gateway AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor 3800+ *Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 software *1024MB DDR memory *250GB hard drive *Double-layer multiformat DVDRW drive *9-in1- media reader *nVIDIA GeForce 6100 grafics (GT5056/FPD1760/MP150) I appreciate all the advice i can get Thank You CPU good OS... ehh.. you'd be better off with Windows XP Home Edition RAM good HD good DVDbuner standard Media Reader nice plus videocard crap. Everything is good except the OS and the graphics card. For one WMC is pretty much a stripped down windows and is on the last of everyone's todo list for updates. Better off getting Home Edtion, though personally I prefer Professional being a more advanced user. As for the videocard, the 6100 in general is a crap chipset. Meant only for entry level stuff and you won't get much in the way of performance. Good news is you can disable the 6100 (its an onboard chipset and can't be removed) and install a newer and better videocard like a 6600GT or 6800GS. But otherwise everything else looks good.
