I have a Dell Dimension E520 Dual Core. Can anyone tell me how do I get sl to run on one core and my browser and everything else on another. I have never altered my pc since purchase so i assume I have everything running on one core.

I have Windows XP

Everything is running on both cores unless you set affinity to a single core. I haven't done it in a long time but alt>cntrl>delete to get to your task manager. Then on your performance tab you can set SL to one of the two cores (doesn't matter which). Close your task manager and you are done. Then with SL still running launch your browser and go through that again on the core you did not set to SL. The program you want set to a single core must be running at the time you set it. Once the program is closed and relaunched you will have to do it again.

That must be done each and every time you quit SL or your browser or shut down. A pain in the butt if you ask me and you will not see much improvement (if any at all) to boot.

Unless you have a specific reason to do this, it's probably not worth the effort.. SL did have problems, big problems, with dual core machines but that was fixed about a year ago.

ctrl-shift-esc will bring up the task manager..

Yup I've read several things saying that switching to single cores isn't worth it. The computer was built to run dual cores and SL can handle both now, so might as well let it all run together... just one girl's opinion. ;)
