Network Connectivity Problems
Thursday, August 9th, 2007 at 3:44 AM PDT by: Data Linden

2:50am PDT:

Second Life is experiencing issues related to network connectivity at one of our co-location facilities. Our Operations team is hard at work in resolving the issues. If you are not able to log in, please try another region to log into.

Thank you for your patience and we apologize for any inconvenience.

I think it may be our own fault if logins fail even BEFORE we get going for a region handshake.... BTW, wasn't this fixed yesterday??

PS How can I log in into another region??? I can't simply log in!!!

First you will need to enable that. Before you try to connect, click the preferences button and look under the General tab. Tick the "show start location on login screen" box and press OK. You will now have your destination listed just below your name, and you can type any region name in there before you press Connect.

<< to add: but good luck finding a region that's working. Hard to remember all the names without looking at the inventory :/ >>

As soon as you find a working region you can log into, it's going to be so clustered with people it'll grind to a halt with lag and you won't want to be there anyway. At least that's how things were 12 hours ago when this exact same situation existed. :P

I find it amazing that their network seems to have major malfunction ever 2-3 days. What on earth they are using in that network? Barbwire? Coax?

It sounds like LL has a major problem with their network as a whole. No properly designed and installed network should fail every few days killing whole service.
