OK this isn't a showstopper but is a constant annoyance. Whenever I start second life all my other windows get brighter. For instance, the text for the SL forums in Firefox gets bright enough that it is readable but is breaking up a bit. Any ideas?

I cant use any paint program when SL is open. all Clear backgrounds come in as white. done that from day one. Just never asked if there was a fix. would love to know if there is one.

That solves it Kyrah. Thanks, I forgot I had changed that. I don't know why that should change pages outside of SL but it does. I guess if I want SL to be bright I'll just use the debug - world - force sunset thing.

I'm at my wits end with the same problem, but it's not gamma-related.

With gamma set to 1.00, which I assume is the norm, then SL brightens itself, and my desktop and other apps enormously. There are no blacks on screen, and the dynamic range is seriously reduced. This is with SL set to run in a window, so I can tab into ICQ quickly.

But... and this is the bit which is foxing me... if I set SL to NOT run in a window, then it does precisely the opposite. Still with gamma unchanged at 1, SL is now so dark and saturated that it's unusable in the opposite way. Brightening it with the gamma doesn't help - even down at 0.25 it has changed, but is still too dark.

What can be causing SL to behave so differently, depending on whether it's running in a window, or full-screened?

SL used to behave perfectly, like any other app, until I changed from a Philips 17" to a Samsung 913V at the weekend. The problem started since that. The graphics card is a 5600, driver 7.7.7.2.

All suggestions gratefully received :-)
