Is this related to my graphics card issue, or not?

I've already posted once on this forum, here, about a problem I'm having which I think is related to a bad graphics card... but, I wanted to bring up a couple of other things I've noticed and ask whether they might also be related.

First, I've noticed that I no longer see a screenshot when I'm logging in-- all I get is a black screen with the usual status bar over it. Is this happening to anybody else, or is it just me?

Second, almost every time I log in now, I get the popup 'hint' messages that you get when you first install SL. I recently uninstalled and reinstalled, after the last major update, so I would expect to get this the first time I logged in after that, but not every time.

Could either of these things be related to my old graphics card potentially going bad, or are they separate problems?

Getting a black screen while logging in is normal if you uninstall and reinstall SL. It will stay that way until you set a new home point, or if you set your startup location as the last place you visited. I doubt that your vid card has anything to do with this issue.

Really? Wow, almost two years here and I didn't know that! Good, I'm glad to know there's *something* that isn't related to my card issue!
