I have been running into an issue off and on when running SL, and when running SL ONLY, and currently I'm in one of the on sections of the cycle.

After being logged in for a few minutes, a nicely-sized square chunk of space around my mouse cursor gets this staticy crap around it. This carries over to the desktop, where it can literally cover the desktop in garbage.

Until now, I presumed that
A) only a reboot could fix the problem, and
B) it was a graphics card cooling issue (as the issue only occurred when the temperature readings were higher than normal, and opening the case ).

I have since proved both presumtions false.

Opening Catalyst Control Center (6.4, so I'm current) and making a change resolves the issue, and the issue is now occurring when the system reports a normal temperature range.

So what exactly is going on here? Am I the only one to have this problem? Any info at all will help. I'm going absolutely insane with this issue.

I am running:

- AMD Athlon 64 3400+
- Windows XP SP2
- ATI X800XT All-in-Wonder (AGP)
- ATI Catalyst Control Center 6.4
