System Crash At Start?

Whenever I go to run the Second Life program:

1. Everything stops.
2. The screen turns off.
3. The screen turns on.
4. The computer boots up as if i just restarted it.
5. It logs in to Windows like normal.

Whats wrong with my system and what can i do to fix this issue? And has anyone else experienced this problem?

It would help to know more about your system.

Things this is reminiciant of:
Bad memory module.
Power supply not able to provide full wattage.
One or two viruses I've met before.

It will be easier to say with some specs. :)

Okay...
Im running Windows XP: Home Edition
I -just- got through with formatting the harddrive and reinstalling windows and my drivers, so i dont think a virus is -too- likely.
INFO:
Intel Xeon CPU - 2.40GHz
2.00GB RAM
GRAPHICS:
Radeon 8500 Series

And DirectX 9.0c

Well, make sure you've got the latest drivers for everything especially that ATI (SL has some issues with ATI cards). De-install then re-install SL.

But, that's some power hungry stuff there. At the moment, I'm leaning toward the power supply not being able to offer up the juice. If it's not a 450 watt at least, it may be the problem. (even if it is, it may be a little borken)

There are other posters who are better at hardware diagnosis than I am, stay tuned for more and better advice! :D

I am having the same problem as he is. I start up, then the UI flashes off, then on, then off, then of, then it locks up and crashes.

It started since the last update, which I was told wasn't the cause. It has never did this before, just started around a few days - week ago.

Its not a power issue, its never done this before, nor is it overheating. [I have a fan blowing on it just in case].

My system is

AMD Athlon XP 1800+ 1.53 Ghz
512 ram
nVidia GeForce 6200 256MB AGP8X

-- So from what I can see, its not just ATI doing it. nVidia cards are doing it as well.

Thank you for your email. The newest line of NVIDIA based consumer graphic cards is the Geforce 6 family. Unfortunately, the power requirements prevent it from working inside of your system. Your system features a 250watt power supply and the Geforce 6 family requres a 300watt or higher. If you were to upgrade your power supply to a 350watt or higher, we would recommend an AGP Geforce 6600GT for your system..

told them what systen deals my comp is and then what program i was using ... this it what i will be getting when i get more money ,, and since i had taken out my 250watt power supply and put in a 450 watt one ,,, this is a snap

I have a 450w or 550w, don't remember. So its not power. And I've had this card [6200] for over a month now and it plays every game fine and it played SL fine..until a few days/week ago..when it started crashing.

Sometime makes me think it was the last update..that is working weird with our systems.
