The horrible news from Dr. Secondlife: You graphics card is not compatible

Well, ya as you can guess my graphics card isn't compatible.... New Dell Inspiron 1501 AMD Radeon Xpress 1151 or something. Well ya I try to log in and sure enough it says its not supported.. I look in the support thing and it says that it may cause some instabilities but I'd like to try to force SL into running if that's possible... if not does anybody have any idea if they'll ever get a compatible version for my poor little video card? He's thinking of being cryogenically frozen until they find a cure....

Sounds pretty much the same problem I had when I got my new computer, I went to the AMD site, downloaded the official drivers for the card, and after that it worked fine.

Is it the same card because windows says my drivers are up to date? :-/

Not the same card, but when I got my new Dell the drivers they used were generic windows drivers, it worked, but it was the not official drivers from AMD, and yes the drivers said they were up to date when I checked them, once I went and downloaded the drivers for my card from AMD, SL worked fine, it recognized the card, what is happening if it is the same as in my case, SL is seeing the generic drivers, and thus saying its not compatible, it's not looking at the card itself, which is more than compatible.

The card when I first got the computer worked fine on Warcraft, only SL had the problem, though I don't think Warcraft checked the drivers of my card, SL does from what I saw.

This may sound weird but I love you lol. I just tried it went to the site and got the real drivers and sure enough it works! Thank you so much

yea dell and other big box makers use the microsoft WHOL (or whatever) drivers, which ensure 100% stability, with 0% features
