I've had this problem for a while now ... I use a Lenovo Thinkpad X41 with the following :
Mobile Intel 915gm/gms, 910gml express chipset family. SL will slow to a crawl, freeze, my cursor disappears and then I either get a low-res, low-color screen and have to power-cycle or i get the dreaded BSOD. The error message usually says something about "stuck thread in driver". I can go a few hours without this happening, or like today, it would happen within seconds of login. I HAVE updated the driver from Intel, the only other thing that microsoft recommends is to slow down the graphics accellerator but then SL won't run. Is anybody else experiencing this problem? Anyone have any idea what I can do?

You are really pushing the envelope for running SL, firstly you are using a laptop and a Intel mobile graphics chip which LL clearly state isn't a supported chip.

Blue screen of death happens when the OS swaps out parts of the OS kernel to HD, then when the client makes a API call, it tried to reload it to use that portion of the OS, but finds the programme in memory won't give up the space. So either the programme freezes (waiting on the API call) and becomes unstable if the kernel portion is loaded, or the OS dies (Blue Screen of Death) because it can't load back into memory to execute. This is sometimes refered to as 'memory leaking'.

Providing you have enough system ram, set the OS to classic, and to performance, and set to not swap out the kernel, might make the whole thing more stable. Consider the heat build up when using a laptop, clean out the vents and possibly use a vent pad to sit it on. Defragging your hard disc regularily will help any system in the long term and reduce heat from the HD thrashing picking up and saving lots of fragmented files.
