I am experencing very VERY high packet loss in the 4 to 200% range. Doing the traces and trouble shooting show that it is the servers between my isp and SL are causing problems. Any ideas to force a redirect of the connection? Going to be a long weekend if I can't solve this.

Still happening

After much ranting and raving, no answers. This is getting to the point that I am going to have to cancel my membership. I can't handle the lack of support I am getting from Linden labs. I understand that most of this happened during the Christmas holiday, and that things are busy. I am doing all I can from this end, it is not my computer, or my ISP connection. I am having the same problem on a different connection and computer. I ask that someone from Linden lab please check their connection to the Chicago hub of Alter.net. This seams to be the start of the problem.

I've had problems ever since getting the latest update (Second Life 1.8.0 (9) Dec 20 2005 08:19:14)... I am gettting kicked off all the time at random times... this is true for both my cable and dsl connections. So I don't think it has to do with your specific route. I reported a bug, but haven't gotten any feedback.

I have noticed the random packet loss whenever i sign in after the last update too... I learned real fast when the left bars is maxed and red to throw my hands in the air and not go closer than 12 inches to my mouse or keyboard until SL finished it temper tantrum..but that's even hit or miss...wierd thing is ..ill be 100's of meters in the air in my box..nobody TPing up and it will happen.

On second thought.

After hearing that this is not just me, and remembering that this started happening right after the last update, it might not be the connection. Did the Lindens change anything about connections in the last update. Like I stated earlier, this is driving me crazy. I feel like I'm on dialup with the way things are going. During speed test, I'm getting 3Mbps from San Franscico. It dosen't help my headache!

I haven't had "extreme packet loss" but downloading streaming inworld has been slower for me lately than it often is. For example, in newly-rezzing areas where I should be noticeably exceeding 600kbps, it only goes about 300kbps. This doesn't happen consistently, and I don't know what's causing it, but it's an odd dragdown and it's definitely not making full use of my broadband connexion.
There've been previous times where slowdowns were reported and it was neither Linden Lab nor the ISP, but something in the middle. The general Internet Health Report looks alright tho. _____________________

One time I had a problem with SL disconnecting me at the Map. It was isolated to Preview and the bug was thankfully worked out. _____________________

Have you tried using WinMTR (providing you are using a PC) or something similar? It shows exactly where the loss is occuring.
I had similar problems a few months ago, and when I ran WinMTR it showed that my ISP was dropping packets over their international links (I'm in South Africa). I tested another ISP, who had no packet loss on their lines, and switched to them - problem solved. At another time, many residents were experiencing loss problems, and by sending LL WinMTR logs showing that the packet loss was happening at LL's ISP, they were able to convince them to fix the problem. |

Been there and done that. |I am getting great performance from my ISP, but down the line... I thought it might be SL, and the Lindens won't have any of that. This is confusing me. I have the game at two different computers in oppisite sides of town, and I get the same thing. I'm open to other suggestions. HELP!
