I have a Nvidia GeForce 5200 and I have had terrible problems since 1.10. My card was originally on the list of supported cards from Nvidia, and now seems to have moved off the list. EDIT: I'm wrong about that Geforce 2 and above includes the 5200. I am having problems I didn't have in preview. I don't know how to account for that. I think that if LL is deliberately upping the spec to play SL they're nuts - people in the states may change their computers every five minutes, but they don't in the UK. Don't know what to tell you except to try turning down everything in preferences . Cali

I too have a friend with a problem with this card, although it's the Geforce Go FX5200 (in a Dell laptop) which is a little different to the desktop version. She can log in, and for about 2 or 3 minutes everything runs ok, but then her framerate starts dropping and her ping climbs to around 900-1100 whilst standing still. If she begins to move this ping jumps to anything between 2000 and 27000! We've tried getting her the latest drivers on the laptop (the latest Forceware don't work as Nvidia don't officially support the card since it's the Go version) however the latest Dell drivers are only early series 7 Nvidia drivers. I've also gone through all the settings with her to see if we can fix this but none seem to make any difference. I've spent hours trying to resolve this with her, staying up till 2am in the morning (my time) getting her to try different drivers. Running Pre-1.10 SL she never had any problems of this nature. She's understandably getting very frustrated with this problem and may have to stop playing Second Life as theres no way she can afford a new laptop, or an upgraded graphics card for it (probably not even possible). Anyone else having identical issues with older (or possibly more recent) Geforce Go cards?

Alright. my friend is on a dell laptop also. we did update her drivers from dells or nvidia's website a few days ago. but this is getting retarded. hopefully it is something that LL messed up on and is working on the fix. if it ran find on the preview grid, it should be fine live.

Yup I have a an fx 2500,256 MB and my fps sucks...... Its dropped further a good chunk with each update. I have a 2.8 ghz processor and 512 MB ram, but only occasionally break 10 fps, in my skybox at home, and on the occassional almost dead sim. I got this fx 5200 in December, and i've watched my fps drop by half over the last few months, despite having up to date drivers at all times.

It ain't any better than SL 1.9 on my 6800, but of course, it is probably my ISP or my BIOS or the fact that they release something other than the preview and test* it on one farking machine.

I have a GeForce 5200 FX and while performance ain't stellar, it's still bearable. I'm getting around 5-11fps in ground areas, >20fps in the sky, with no or few people around. I'm using the "nearest local lights" setting, had to drop draw distance to 64 but other than that it's fine. Ripple water totally kills my fps though.

FX5200 cards allow you to use several of Second Life's higher graphical features, but they do NOT run them quickly at all. (Speedwise, they almost seem to line up with the 4MX cards.) It's very important if you have performance issues with FX5200 cards that you turn options off/down in SL's Preferences.

Closer to a 4Ti Lee... I upgraded a 4Ti to a 5200 and got a slight improvement. However, as you say, they aren't really up to it any more... I got a 6600 last week and saw a massive improvement.

I have a 5200

I have a 5200 128MB and have found that my performance is pretty decent when I make sure that my settings "help" it do the job. Oh, and when I upped my system's RAM from 512 to 1.5 gig, things got better yet another step!
For one, the "system settings best for your hardware" choices are HORRID.
I'd reccomend checking/changing the following for everyday use:
Run in a window Draw distance ~150 unless parachuting or flying a shuttle, etc. Particles got set to 4096 - take them down to 150 or so unless taking particle-specific pictures Tree mesh detail ~ 50% Avatar/Flex/Object detail ~ 75%
Shaders & Filtering Options: you'll probably want to leave them unchecked. I've found that since I upped my ram I can tolerate them better but I've also not tested that on the latest update in a crowded/demanding environment yet.
When stuff gets cruddy/in a laggy place: Take draw distance down to 60 m Pull particles down to the bare minimum Take Object/Flex/Tree/Avatar sliders down as low as you can stand (tree esp.)
I dunno for sure if it helps but I try to clear my caches, run defrag & virus/adware snoopers daily, limit the number of other demanding proggys running at the same time, keep the 'puter/modem/router cool and ventilated. Also I set the priority for cpu usage a lil higher for SL to give it more help.
When stuff gets laggy, I'll shut down SL, clear caches, defrag and reboot. That helps too.

I had a Geforce 5200FX 256mb with lastest drivers and I had to turn all slides down to run it fairly well, my computer is amd xp1800+ (1.5ghz) with 1gb ram. With FX5200 I could not turn antialiasing or ambient light on or it would go down to ,5 FPS or below. It´s a really crappy card, so I updated to ATI9600pro and it worked a way lot better even works well using ambient light (tho some stuff turns pitch black)
My Fx5200 didn´t work well with the Siva version, didn´t try running it on 1.10 tho
