With the remarkable prices coming out on laptops, I'm wondering which is best for SL? One that I'm considering is this one: http://microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0241286 Is the ATI 1100 fast enough to run SL properly? I know pretty much the specs on desktop graphics boards (to an extent) but I'd love to see a rundown on which laptops and which internal graphics cards are best. What about you folks already running SL on laptops? What kind of internal graphics does your system have and what is your experience? Are the graphics smooth or glitchy? Three graphics systems that I don't believe work very well: Intel Graphics (they have several versions out now, yes? Is one any better or are they all poor?) ATI Radeon 200M Nvidia GO 6150

It's an integrated graphics chip which is something to watch out on, however I've seen MacBooks and Mac Minis running with Intel integrated graphics chips fairly well, and the Mac client is typically worse (both machines needed 1gb of RAM to do this which your current option has). I'm not a 100% sure though, in theory SL should only be getting faster after 1.12 comes out if LL stick to the plan they outlined in the blog. But it remains to be seen.

I would seriously look at used machines if you want something decent for under $1k.

From: Flavian Molinari I would seriously look at used machines if you want something decent for under $1k. Well, I'd consider up to $1500.

for under 1500 you could get a decent dell like the E1505 where you can pay a bit extra to get a decent video card in it and not the intel integrated. Configured lower end but decent for SL its going to get pretty close to 1500
