Offline IM's delayed appearing in world

Is anyone else having a problem with offline IM's? I get the email for a offline IM, but it sometimes takes several hours (12-24) for it to appear in world. This did not use to happen previous to 1.9. I know it is not due to capping as I don't get many IM's when I am offline.

Since the new update, offline ims vanish. When I sign back in the game, nothing.

Complaints later saying I am "ignoring" people. Rather confusing.

Hi--can you guys, and who else is having this problem, please describe further, perhaps with exact reproductions from your experience? For example, here's what's been happening to me.
REPRODUCTION
Resident A is online, Resident B is offline.
B has Send IM to E-mail turned on.
A sends an IM to Resident B.
B gets the IM in their email inbox.

OBSERVED
B logs into SL and doesn't see the IM show up.

EXPECTED
B logs into SL and sees the IM show up. For example, "Torley Linden: (Saved Fri Mar 24 08:08:27 2006) Did you get this message?"
Also be sure to send in detailed bug reports about to help us get a better understanding of it!

I just posted about this also. Same problem, not getting offline IM's. Not good for those who have shops, my customers think that I'm ignoring them also when in fact, I never get their IM's in the first place.

I seem to have the same problem, Some IMs make their way to my inbox yet others dont. It would be great to get this fixed so I dont miss any important mails as I have a big event coming up in April.

There appears to be confusion here with individual experiences.

Currently, for me, I get all offline IMs reliably sent to my email box. However, upon logging in, I don't see them as saved messages in the IM window. The exact steps I went through are described above.

While--Slim, you say some don't even get to your inbox? And you've tested with different email addresses at all?

More details and your own reproductions would be fantastic so we can get a better understanding. Thanks.

Torley, what you have outlined is exactly the problem I have had. Although yesterday a offline IM was delevered when I logged in, only one though. So it appears that it is intermitant. I do always get them via email though as you do, but not at log in.

I've been having this problem, too-- didn't realize it was so widespread. I've had no trouble getting offline IM's sent to my email, but they aren't saved in world at all.

I am also haveing the issues covered in this thread. In addition, I have noted that many users are not with the correct status in my Friends list. I.e. a friend shows as off-line when I know they are on-lien. They are standing in front of me speaking. Sending anyone "missing" an IM instantly triggers the "Your Chum is online." pop-up. My gut tells me this is a related bug, since it also started with 1.9 and is coming out of the same sub-system withing SL. (i.e. I'm guessing online status and IM are handled by the same thing.)

I've been having the same issues as noted above. Offline IM's go to my email, but never show up in-world when I log in.

It's pretty simpl tolery, I get e-mails with the offline messages, but when I log in I don't get them. This worked fine in 1.8.xx.

Torley,

Dimtri Polonsky has lost the ability to im Live Help with the 1.9 upgrade. He can send and recieve ims just fine but when he types his message to Live Help it just dissappears when he hits enter. This problem occurs only with Live Help. I don't know if this could be stemming from the other im problems or not.

Right erm.. Well I was on SL today (duh), and was sending people some IMs, without getting a response, so I poked them some, trying to get them to react, one with luck, two without.. I also noticed that my multitool wasn't giving me any feedback when people came within range..

Then, as I disconnected, I went to check my email, and there they all were.. Sent to me as if I was offline, only I wasn't, since obviously my collar as well as my multitool shouldn't trigger if I'm not online.

This is a really serious bug, and I must admit that I hope it'll be fixed very soon, since not being able to communicate over IMs is a deterioration of an otherwise wonderful, online realm.

^ Thanks, this should not persist, he posted about it in SL Answers too. I'd recommend more testing on different estates (private islands).

I had another interesting incident happen regarding this. Last night Sundi and I were out driving around on the roads of SL when we apparently got shot by a orbiting push weapon of some sort as we were suddenly millions of meters in the air and falling back down to the ground. But after a few seconds of falling we then appeared to start going north moving from sim to sim very quickly, even speeding up and I did not push any keys. After 10 seconds or so of this I crashed then relogged and so did she.

However upon returning I sent her a IM which she received, but when she tried to send one to me, the system said that i was offline. As I didn't hear anything back to my IM I tried teleporting her, which worked, and I then found out about the IM problem. I checked my email and sure enough the IMs she sent were there just as if I was offline. Now the interesting thing, I didn't get those IM's in-world until today. And this was the first time I ever had problems receiving a IM while I was online.

So in short, this IM problem is intermittent and obviously NOT fixed (and perhaps getting worse?).

I'm also not getting any offline IMs. I only get the e-mails about them. Makes me wonder how many of my offline IMs to others are going missing?

I also noticed I can hang out with someone in world and have them not show up as online in my friends list. I know they're online, they're in front of me, but my friends list says otherwise.

Another interesting situation happened to me yesterday. I was offline when I got a IM, and I got it when I logged in (which is as it should be), HOWEVER I never got that IM in email. This is a first (at least for me). I am glad it showed up at all, but this seems to indicate that there is a more serious issue than first thought as sometimes even the IM to email system fails to function.
