A strange menu - how to turn off?

For the past couple of days, I have been plagued with a menu (upper right on my screen) containing all kinds of info/statistics about the sim I am in.... I can't figure out how to turn it off. Can anyone explain this to me?

Toggle View > Statistics Bar or hit Ctrl-Shift-1.
