Whats cant activate GL rendering context mean? |

I recently installed Second life but when I start it up it says my video card is a GDI generic, when in fact its an ATI x800 pro 256mb so whats all this mean and how can I fix this?

Hii Postman, just means it isn't detecting your graphics card properly. First make sure you have your drivers updated from http://www.ati.com --some prefer the Omega drivers, see http://www.omegadrivers.net/ .
Lee Linden also posted today about issues like this, see /111/73/111050/1.html#post1075326 I'm moving this to Technical Issues for further suggestions. And if it still doesn't work out, please contact Support. _____________________

That sounds like it is very similar to my video card, which does OK with SL.
Are you sure your fans are working alright? I had a bad fan once, in my daughter's machine, and the heat affected the card so badly it got detected as a generic GDI. Once the fan was replaced it was detected properly. _____________________
