Help! I broke my cache!

Well I was one of the poor folks experiencing slowdowns since the update and in an effort to fix it, I tried moving my cache from my C: to my F: Drive. I then hit the 'clear cache on next startup' button and rebooted. Now I can't get SL to start at all! It gets to the 'Clear Cache' meaage and just hangs. I've tried deleting and re-installing SL three times now, and can't find the Cache file anywhere on my J: drive. Any ideas what else I can try?

In preferences you need to go to network, disc cache location, reset. To get to the log in page you may need to do a complete uninstall of SL, including deleting the folder in your documents and settings. It is in the programs folder under whatever you call yourself (usually user or owner or your name). To see the programs folder you must enable "show hidden folders.

Also run C Cleaner or something similiar, then reinstall, go to log in and change cache location (if you still want to).

This is as close as you will get to a clean install with out reinstalling your entire operating system.

I noticed you said you deleted and reinstalled. Run uninstall SL, then delete the folder in programs and the one in documentds and settings.

Oops, my bad. I did mean 'uninstall'.

Anyway, problem solved. Seems it was a hardware issue. I'd somehow duplicated one of my drives and the SL cache had been located on the shadow. My roomie came to the rescue though and I'm up and running. Now if only I can get SL back to running at full speed on my fancy new high-tech machine.

lol.. you have to 'move' the cache location from within game. When you clear your cache and relog, it does take quite a while for it to actually remove all the entries and may appear to be 'hung'. Go shopping in RL or something while you wait lol..
