I am having a frustrating problem using some of the animation objects on my land that have sitting and lying-down pose balls. When I stand up after using one of those animations, my avatar goes straight up into the air like a rocket. This started happening a couple of weeks ago with objects that had previously had no problems. It went on for a couple of days, and then the problem went away for no apparent reason. After that everything worked fine up until yesterday, when the problem mysterioulsy returned. It happens on 3 animation objects especially - a chair, a bed, and a hammock. These objects worked fine one day, and then the next day they started catapulting me into the air everytime I stand up. I'm not talking about just being bumped into the air and then falling back down. I shoot up into the air very fast and just keep going, higher and higher. Sometimes I can regain control by flying and using page-down to descend, sometimes not. Sometimes if I fly horizontally away from the object I can then descend, sometimes not. I often cannot regain control even by flying. If I am indoors I get stuck against the ceiling and cannot get down. Sometimes the only way out is to relog. One time, after getting back to the ground and starting to walk around, my avatar kept drifting up into the air while still walking.
Can anyone tell me why this is happening and what I can do to prevent it? I have tried changing the position of the objects, adjusting the position of the poseballs within the objects, clearing my cache, removing attachments from my avatar - nothing helps.
I submitted a ticket about this in the support portal, but have as yet gotten no response.

No replies, so I guess maybe I'm the only one having this problem. My work-around is to set a landmark right next to the object before I sit or lie down on it, and then instead of standing up from the object, teleport to that landmark. It seems kind of silly to teleport to a point 2 meters away, but it's the only way I have found to avoid being flung into the stratosphere. So that's what I'll keep doing, until someone can offer a better solution.

I actually had the problem with a few items... my quick fix was to put a phantom script inside of the object which would shoot me off. Then rather than flying up... I'd just land on the ground and stand inside of the object itself (which to me was a lot more appealing and less frustrating) As far as what causes it... I havent even compared the posescripts, animations, etc to see if they had anything in common, it was just not something that happened frequently enough for me to take the time. Sorry for not having any other information

Probably the sim again, happend before, not much you can do except report to Lindens and wait about 12 months for one to appear and check the sim, pretty sure it has issues, i been in a few of them who has this problem.
Sit on any poseball, stand and you get propelled into air upwards like crazy.

Thanks for the replies & info.
Can you tell me how to create a phantom script like that, or tell me where to go to learn how?
I sent a message about this through the support system, with no response yet. Hope it doesn't really take 12 months. Is there some other way I'm supposed to contact the Lindens about this sort of thing?
Thanks again.

The problem is the physics engine. If the poseball stays inside your AV when you're sitting then whenever you stand up will create a collision between the ball and your AV and push you over. You may try to make the poseballs phantom to avoid this collision. If they're no mod, then no luck... The reason why this is sporadic could be due to the server in which your sim resides ATM. These serves are rotated every now and then.

It's not the game...I am sure...it's aaaaaall client side. I thought this was just me as well...until I started seeing all of my staff flying up to the ceiling. Then I went to the other business around the sim and everyone was comlpaining about it. One reported being able to get herself outside and promptly flew up to 8000M before logging out. I figured it was some malicious script, but with the copious problems inherent in SL...who really knows why this is happening.

I am seeing this a lot. I'm trying to script a teleporter using a sit target and about 1/6th of the time, I end up getting launched into orbit. I have a pause before the unsit portion of the script...the destination is free and clear of prims... I don't get it.

We're having the exact same thing. I don't know if its a script since it does it in a range over 500m.
If you land in the sim when you start the software you're okay, but if you TP in or stand up then you're sent off to never never land.
So far, having a transparent ceiling is the only thing holding people in.

When I reported this through the support portal a while back they told me it is problem with the sim physics and usually goes away after the sim is restarted. Trouble is it keeps coming back! Setting the objects that are doing this to phantom stops the problem, but I don't like phantom furniture. I wish they would fix this. It is really annoying.

its a physics issue and view your sim stats I bet the Time Dilation is all over the place. My main land sim had this issue a few months back, thats when you could get live help. Had a linden come and she experienced it with me, re started the sim and all was well. I now keep an eye on the Time dilation, if I see it droping I put in a request for a re start. is it an old sim? mines a class 3 the other posible cause (if its only happening to you) is an scripted attachment. to check dump all your avs attachments and try it.

It happens to everyone on the land... I even check out land owned by other people and its happening there as well. Since it takes a week to get anything back from their support channel, it may be quicker to sell the land and go elsewhere

I made a teleporter to get me on top of an invisible prim earlier...tested it out and all was fine. Then I logged off...logged back on again...used the teleporter and was buffeted around the prim instead of landing on it and was then pushed off my own land and couldn't regain control by flying or using the movement keys...I just had to wait until I splatted.
Would this be a similar problem to the ones being described here...or something else caused by teleporting?

Sounds like this kind of problem can show up in several different ways. In my case, it happens just when I stand up from certain (not all) pieces of furniture on my land. I'm so sick of it, I finally wrote a little script that I can use for standing up instead of clicking the stand button on the viewer. The script first sets the furniture to phantom, then makes the av stand up. After a few seconds it sets the furniture back to non-phantom, giving the av time to get safely away. Luckily I have mod permission for the furniture items that have this problem. So far it seems to work (fingers crossed, knocking on wood).

I was able to reproduce mine everytime by setting my home to the location I was in, then TPing home. That would send me staight off.
I also found it could be produced by creating an object that forces your avatar to move to get on top of it.
I've also had it happen when walking off objects as well.

somthign similar to this has happened a couple of time with me, but in my case I was able to pinpoint the cause of the problem to my flight assist attachment, somehow isomething went wrong and it continuosllly pushed me up, and aparently the strength of the push slowlly went down till I barelly leaved the ground
