Everything around me has rezzed fine, but none of my clothing or textures will show up. Going on an hour now and still nothing. The only clothing showing up is what I made today.

No, not just you. :)

I was in briefly and saw so many strange things happening and not happening that I decided to wait a while before logging in again.

heya,
try this ctrl-shift-1 - toggles this panel,,, if you have any pending download things in world will look very grayish ,, this usually happen after every update and cause so many are trying to get the images/textures it will take awhile.

Anyway when it reaches 0 , it should appear normally, any pending upload , things you made and still havnt gotten saved ect is on that (make something pick it up, it shows 1 for a few seconds and 0 then its saved to your inventory)

I thought they had a fix for not deleting cache for every time you needed to update SL ?

After about an hour and a half, clothing and textures from my inventory finally rezzed. Glad I decided to give it a while before I bug reported.

Hang in there and things will rez/show up!

this rezzing is taking forever.
06-14-2005 14:29
Is this going to take a while. Is it depending on my computer's time in SL. Can I just come back later tonight and it all be rezzed. It seems like it is taking 5-10 seconds to rez one thing. and I still have 1670 downloads to rez. Should i stay in or just log off and let it happen? Either way, this is very annoying.

I'll agree, it's very annoying, but it's happened before -- albeit, last time it occurred, I don't remember it going on for so long. Wish there was a way to speed this up, but it's best to wait and be productive and do something else in the meantime I do suppose. :)

Just a thought but opening the map and clicking all 4 tabs will add something like that many downloads for the first time just for one user, or 4 people clicking the map on one page, as it has to download an image for each sim.

Im also sure there is load elsewhere though, sim had only 100 downloads before now has 2500 and is taking ages to clear them, perhaps the asset server is loaded too not just the sim.

well put Thili Playfair

the cache has been emptied, there are many people DLing and that slowes every DL. any other request like the map, finds, and anything on the same server cluster will slow the entire process.

LL has been upgrading their systems and seperating network clusters for better preformance. I would think as time goes on we will experience this issue less on future updates. but for now just remain in-world and be patient.

what should I do?
06-14-2005 15:10
So is it better to stay in world, or should I leave? Is this rezzing local or world based? I am the only one in my sim and the number of downloads keep going back up. So If I leave, will I still have to through this rezzing process when I come back on?

This is global, for all Residents -- not local apart from the parts pertaining to your own avatar, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. If it's frustrating now, I'd recommend taking a break and coming back later. That'd be a good thing to do. :)

Geez I thought Davenport was the worst for awhile with 4000... I wonder which sim has the record.

And I was complaining about Caldbeck's 3400+. 8900+ is just scary.

EDIT: Just thinking about this - are these numbers right? They keep going up, yet the textures and objects also keep appearing, meaning they've been downloaded... or, I think that's so.

Rezzing
06-14-2005 19:51
Rezzing was impossible - when I COULD get in. Now I cannot get IN.. and the STATUS page says SL is down, but when I look at the site, I see people in there. WHAT??? I would like to get IN, Lindens! Pretty Please? You wouldn't like me when I'm angry.. :P

my sim has 0 on download

still, i cant teleport , rezzing a new object takes forever, and just try to attach something...

and im the ONLY one on the sim

Im afraid this problem is far more serious then is being let on and frankly, I'm very suprised the forums arent on fire with people as aggrivated as me

all my buddies, on different sims, have the same probs, I am NOT imagining this

this is a failed update and it needs to be rolled back

If everything is working great for you please correct me. we are going on 12 hours now with the same problems

again, it blows my mind no one else is really complaining, as EVERYONE I've spoken too is experiencing the same problems or problems that prohibit thier enjoyment of their individual pursuits in SL

My windows 95 box is more stable then SL at this point, and thats not a good thing

when you been around SL awhile youll notice this happen eeevery time theres a update, so no not much to worry about, 1 day after then tp work again,

why?, gigs and gigs of recaching happening, will break SL, they said some patch would stop deleting the cache so it wouldnt (?) have to recache everything again, well it didnt work,

Go ahead try tp'n today, it will work :)

This particular update did, unfortunately, require restarting everything, thus the re-caching was a good deal greater than what happens when we don't have to do that.
