Seeing Red?

Hi everyone, my name is Angela Robertson and I am a bit of a shopoholic. I see things that interest me and, well, I feel like I need to have it. Which isn't a bad thing for the vendors here! LOL... But... I have encountered a problem which I am hoping someone can help me to understand. A few weeks ago I was doing a bit of window shopping when I found some BLING!!!! And this bling is awesome! I totally love it!! BUT... there is a problem... when I wear it I seem to cause myself and others to lag... and lag very badly. Which is not a good thing when trying to play a game such as Tringo... This jewelry that I bought is a set. Its Erzulie white bling diamonds set. Truly it's an awesome set!!! I TOTALLY love it!! But it seems to literally make everyone and myself see red when we go to the debug menu and click on Show Updates. Is anyone else having this problem? What can be done besides never wearing it? I have contacted the maker, Baby Thorn, but she told me it's normal and that there is nothing wrong with the script. Please help, someone. I love this set and want to wear it without seeing red. Thanks so much for all your feedback. Oh and by the way, its no modify.

If it's lagging you and everyone else around you, then you should stop wearing it. It's inconsiderate to wear something that so consistently affects other people's computer performance. The script is obviously very poorly made. I would go elsewhere for your bling. :)

Hi angela,

The red flashing your seeing is the object doing a full update of the prim which can be lag inducing also depending on how fast you see this flashing.

Lots of jewellry maker have been good in the past to reduce lag on their products by scripting them well in the first place and if not offering a product recall as shown here for another vendor /invalid_link.html particle jewellry shouldnt need to process full updates as im aware of many other vendors whos scripts flash with the blue partial update indicator.

In the end market forces will prevail and if people cant wear the jewellry at events etc then people will no longer purchase it. Choosing lag friendlier vendors instead.

I also contacted the creator regarding this about two weeks ago. She was seeking technical responses to what the red meant. I posted about the lag in the forums here /invalid_link.html here /invalid_link.html I never have heard anything more about/from her until I saw your post today.

5/14 Update ~ just had mine all fixed and seems apparently she is using a new script now :) because i have no problems at all with my new refurbished jewels. YAY!

Hi

In response as to what the updates display actually means this is the official response from kelly linden

From: Kelly Linden
Each flag indicates that your computer recieved an update about that object.

There are three colors that mean three things.

Red: A full object update. All the data for the entire object has been received by your viewer. This uses the most bandwidth.

Blue: A partial update has been received by your viewer. This uses much less bandwidth than a full update, however a constant stream of this can still be a lot of data.

Green: Object delete message. When your client receives a delete message for an object you will get a green flag.

An object that is spamming full updates could cause a lot of data to be sent to people which could cause some viewer lag. The same is true to a lesser degree for partial updates.

I don't remember your contact, but that doesn't mean that you didn't. I lead a busy life in the real world and known to be forgetful if i don't make notes.

As Mag said, I do have a new script i'm usin. I am not a scriptor and obviously the source of the script (a scripter who put a timer in a basic bling script) didn't care much about peoples performance. Now that I'm aware of all of this after some research I can fix the problem.

I hope to eventually get all the old jewelry changed to the new script, if you don't care to wait till i can do that, then I will be more than happy to fix yours immediately, but you will need to contact me in world to work out the details.

BTW Mag, hehehe, i got bling on and off :D If you see this catch me in world and i'll see what i can do about changin yours to on off commands for free.
