OK here's the thing, i've checked the FAQ's and did everything it told me to do. I checked the firewall on my computer and made sure that the settings allowed Second Life to runand the settings are correct, after that i checked the wireless hub to make sure that was not bloking it and the hub is set up with all ports open. After that failed i tried it on a second, slower, computer on the same hub and it runs but very slowly. I am hoping that i'm missing something very simple but i think that it's something much deaper that involves the reinstilation of the OS. This is a laptop running Win2k with a 64 mg Graphics card and 512 of ram and a Pentuim 3 that has many deamons. If anyone has any good ideas about this problem please reply to this thread.
Rock out, ~Perttu Kitty

delete the cache.
goto the folder C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data\SecondLife\ delete the contents of the cache folder and log folder. That usualy fixes my login problems.

that's a great idea and i never would have thought of it but it still gives me an error after, "Verifying Protocol Version", saying that it could not connect even though i'm on the interent and my firewall is now off
