I'm about to purchase a new computer and I was wondering out of these 2 which is better for SL and gaming in general.

http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/inf7900.asp?v=d

This has a Intel 2 Duo Core

and this one below has a AMD Athlon™64 X2 4200+ Dual-Core

http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/ultra9900.asp?v=d

or this one also looks good

(ps dont mind about the vista upgrade or the speakers)

I'm just want a computer that will run SL at high FPS and I will be able to upgrade in the future.

I was also wondering even though Liquid cooling is free if I should get it or not.

Seems ok, but id suggest least 2gig ram nowadays, 1 is like...puff in most games and just about everything eats 1 gig like nothing now, better to have much ram then to little -.o
(been around 4 years since i was at <2gig ram)

x2-4200 isnt excactly new and the intel beats it, but x2 is cheaper then intels, e6300 duo isnt even on the cpu chart but its abit higher then x2-4200

Cpu chart

Suggestion , get 2gig ram, any of the intels ,

I think any dual-core processor has problems with Second Life. However, the problem can be easily remedied! Take a look here for my explanation of things.

Ok thanks Stylez.

Also if the CPU is Duo Core and only has 1.86 GHz is the still really good? Normally I thought I would need around 3.0GHz but and than I saw the Duo Core was only 1.86. Both the Intel 2 Duo Cores are 1.86 GHz

Anyone know if this is good at all?

Intel is pulling an AMD trick, thier new processors are much more efficient with fewer clock cycles so the old more is better doesn't really matter any more. My suggestion, 2 gigs ram, forget about the liquid cooling as Intel chips are running cool nowadays and put the savings toward getting the E6600 CPU. It is currently faster than AMD's fastest $900 CPU which was the fastest available only a couple months ago. If you can afford it, I'd recommend the 8800 series video card if you plan on not updating your computer for a few years. I'd drop the speakers and the second optical drive but that's me. I use an inexpensive home stereo with an aux in port for my sound system and it sounds better than "computer speakers" any day plus the stereo has a remote :P

Make sure whatever case/ power supply is big enough to run the components you choose. The 8800 video card is a power fiend so keep that in mind.

How much FPS should I be getting with these Intel 2 Duo Core CPUs?

It can depend a lot on what is around you as Thili said and SL isn't known for high frame rates even with super high end computers but what will happen is lag will affect you significantly less and you can turn up eyecandy like AA and AF filtering without losing framerate. With my 4400+ and 6800 Ultra I can still move with 41 people in a sim where most everyone else is slideshowing. The Intel 6600 makes my 4400+ look like a dog.. the 6600 even blows away an AMD FX-62 (the very fastest CPU mere mortals could buy just a few months ago) which is an $800+ part yet the 6600 is around $320.
