Okay...I need some help. I have read through most of the tech threads, and tried most of everything listed.
I put in my login information, and I get the following error message: unable to find the server domain name.
I have disabled the firewalls on my router and on my laptop. I have tried wireless. I have tried hard wired.
I have looked up my video card information. All I know is it says Intel. I have tried to flush my DNS, but I get an error message: function failed during execution.
I have been waiting to get on SECOND LIFE for a while now, with no success. Can someone PLEASE help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know anything about your setup, but let me tell you what happened to me last week. I took my notebook to a friend's house to show her Second Life. I could get to the SL web site on it, but I got the same error you were when I tried to log into SL. After about 20 minutes she found that her cable modem actually had a firewall (which was separate from her router). The support site showed us how to get into the cable modem and turn off the firewall (actually we just put it from 'high' to 'medium') and SL worked fine.
If your router IS your broadband connection though, I don't know what else the problem could be. _____________________

I finally was able to get my SL screen to show me something other than the first error message.
I now get to Verifying protocol....and nothing. I have disabled ALL of my firewalls. I have also removed SL as a FULL ACCESS program and re-added it as the Knowledge Base suggests. I'm very interested in SL, but getting VERY discouraged. Is it worth all of this??? I want to log on!!!!! |
