You can wait for an update on the blog post (http://blog.secondlife.com/2007/06/29/intermittent-failure-to-rez-issues-reported/) but chances are the item is just gone.
LL isn't responsible for any lost inventory even if the loss is the direct result of a mistake on their part. One thing to try it to go to the Edit menu / Preferences, under Network and then Clear Cache. Close SL, relog and open your inventory and type anything random for the inventory search and wait for it to stop saying "Fetched...". If the item doesn't show up then, it's gone. |

The fix of the problem has been applied by LL but the object isn't in my inventory...i tryied to clear the cache and doing what you tell me but nothing has been found. So i lost 3000 l$ of object, cause of a problem of the server, but i will not obtain the object again, cause LL isn't responsabile for any lost inventory...let me say it's really INCREDIBILE. I spent 10 real dollars for nothing because a sl problem. Can't believe it |

Inventory losses
06-30-2007 10:02
Being new to SL, I am discovering some issues. I have read from the notice the inventory bug is now fixed. How will SL now return the items lost to my inventory? Yesterday 2 purchased, immediately failed to rez up after attempts were made. Will SL be refunding the Linden? Or will SL be returning the objects, since they do reside in SL inventory now.
Thank you |

Thank you I REALLY hope so, but noone of the linden/sl admins reply to my question...and i'd appreciate to have some news about this problem...i can't believe that for a server's problem, all the people who lost an object have simply lost also the dollars (and 3000 l$ are REALLY much for a single object...) Please help us bye bye |

Seeing as I lost a 6000L item months ago I'll give you the steps I took and how I got a resolution.
1. Realize that LL is not responsible for data loss- such is life. 2. Was the item no transfer? My item was no transfer so when I contacted the creator he happily gave me a new copy. So my advice is contact the creator and tell them the situation, but make sure to read #3 ![]() 3. Remember that the creator is not obligated to replace the item- they do it out of the goodness of their heart. So be nice to them as they can deny your request. Hope this helps! |

Actually. I once attempted to rezz a hot tub and swoosh, it was gone. I filed a complaint with Linden Labs, stated I purchased this tub, attempted to rezz and now it was gone. I listed in my complaint the cost of the item and cut and paste of my transaction listing showing the purchase. To my surprise, the next day the Linden showed up in my account. I was only in world a week, so maybe they took pity on a new resident.
Good luck - Klaus |

"Second Life should provide a means for a person to locally backup/restore items in their inventory."
Not going to happen, then you might as well give out the objects with free copy/transfer as it wouldnt take to long to figure out how to change them, they do need a backup on their server , so you could roll back when it happen, untill then never never buy a thing thats a no copy. Yes i to lost 10.000's of Lindens cause of this inventory crap -.- |

And, yes, it did seem to me to be the intellectual property issue that is the sticking point. There are ways around this, such as encryption and digital signatures. Also, a policy that if "no copy" or "no transfer" then the item can't be externally backed up. Have a separate server-side backup makes sense, but this is for LL to implement. Nevertheless, something should be done... |
