Question about Buying/Wearing Items

I recently bought an outfit from some store in SL. Once I tried to put on the outfit, all that appeared was a picture of the outfit cutting through my body (link below).

This has happened once before, the only other time I have bought something. Am I just buying the items wrong(though I was sure I followed the directions exactly) or am I missing something in putting them on?
Thank You for any help!

what you bought was a prim (the box with the picture) with the clothes inside. Find the item you bought in your inventory. Rez it on the ground next to you (dont double click or wear it). Right click on the box and choose "edit" once it rezzes. In the window that pops up, click "more", then click the Contents tab. Here you will see the contents of the prim. Now just drag all the clothes to your inventory (try putting it into" /my inventory/clothing";). You can now double click those clothes to wear.

You can now also rez the object on the ground, right click to get the pie menu and pick 'Open'. Shows the contents without having to go through all the edit stuff.

Welcome to SL! Every new person does that to themselves at least once. Ends up wearing a box! Even experienced Players do it sometimes, if they don't realize an item in their inventory is still boxed.

When it happens, and it will again... just laugh, take it back into inventory, and follow the steps above to open your boxed item.

FYI - To place something in a box yourself, merely make any prim, texture it as you please, and drag the items you want to put in the box into the 'contents' tab of the item's edit window. Any prim can be a container. This is a handy way to store things you don't use often, like collected freebie clothes that might be right for a special occasion, like a costume party or a contest, but don't fit your usual style. Boxed items show up as a single item in inventory, and you have to rez them on the ground to get at their contents.

Just remember to give the prim a good descriptive name! It wouldn't do to discard an item named 'object', and in the process accidentally delete your collection of winter clothes!
