newest SL under linux success!

Pretty much this is what I did:

Downloaded the newst version of SL

used regular wine in to install it.

Downloaded an old version of winex here: http://www.tales.pop.com.br/Linux/winex.htm

and basicly ran SL with that WineX binary. Works Perfectly!

how is the performance as compared to windows? how does it do in environments such as clubs and stuff with insane particle counts?

From what I've experianced hanging out with W-HAT Corp (infamous for tons of well, stuff) it seems pretty much the same under Windows. I'll have to go clubbing tonight and see for sure.

With all the features enabled and at a high res, there's weird sort of freezing that will occaisionally, but for the most part it works alright.

I'm happy that's for sure. :)

Do you trust that version of winex? I think it's pirated, and it requires root privileges to setup...
