Client runs only once

I have changed graphics card form nVidia to ATI Radeon X1600 Pro Gecube and ever since then I can only load the client after a complete new installation of the software. After every logout, the attempt to load the client from the Windows 2000 desktop causes crashes. Have tried with many configurations but the only way to access the game ONCE is to reinstall it.

With one exception: Yesterday I got logged out for inactivity... and a miracle occurd: I could start with one click on the SL icon only :-)

So, maybe SL doesn't like me logging off...

It would be great if the Lindens could fix that bug, it's quite time consuming to constantly have to reinstall the game, set preferences etcpp, when you just wanted you empty the cache...

Thx

checked windows task manager?, secondlife can hang sometimes and stick in background when you quit it, without -mulitple it wont launch another one.

ctrl-alt-del, see if you have any secondlife.exe , when you get this again.

Yes, I laways have the windows task manager open to check what's going on - no, it's real crashes, crash logger starts, sends crash report and so on... it's the program which constantly crashes.

Sometimes, when I have nothing better to do, I try for 10 minutes and eventually the client would open!

As this is more than upsetting, I try one, two, three times, send crash reports each time, hoping the Lindens read them, remove the program and re-istall.

It's a weird phaenomenon, I know...

Does anybody else use the ATI Radeon X1600 Pro Gecube on Windows 2000 prof?

Hmm, you say you changed from nVidia to ATi? Are you sure you got all of the nVidia driver out before you installed the new video card? If not that can cause all sorts of problems. I'd suggest downloading Driver Cleaner Pro (it's free), uninstalling your current video drivers, run Driver Cleaner to remove all instances of both sets of drivers, then reinstall the current video drivers. You may want to uninstall/reinstall SL while your at it, just incase.
