Ok .. I am working on this mamoth castle for a client and getting paid pretty well too. But I am relatively new to land ownership, only own land in Anshe's dreamland, which is a bit different than owning land on the Mainland, when it comes to selling land with items that preside on it.

Comes time to link everything together and hand over to new ower. I do all the rights as I build, so everything is duly set as an original and for sale for zero as individual pieces. Go to link, and its just too big. Oh well, expected that. Try to link in clumps .. says I can't ... objects are too far away from each other. Try different angles .. no go. At least I have a snow hill for a backdrop so I am not grabbing everyone's else prims in the selection process, BUT I still can't do this in any reasonable time frame and without having my client spend hours, if no days buying their build clump by tiny clump. and if they want to move it later? WHAT A NIGHTMARE and it'll be on ME to make it happen.

So, we decide to do a simple 2 minute timed land exchange, not realizing this will cost me $40 USD!!! in tier. There goes my profit margin. I think about canceling, but the owner is afraid the land will go back to Linden Labs and she'll have to buy it over. I agree that its not clear to whom the land would go to if the buy was cancelled. I go through and confirm and, yes, this month instead of a $9.95 monthly membership fee I have a $49.95 bill for owning my client's land for two minutes so she could own the castle she paid me for!!!!! OUCH! Talk about losing money!

For those of us who do custom builds on extremely difficult terrian, it is not viable to do a transfer and ask the client to move it into place. It is also bad business to make the owner spend as much time getting possession of their build, via selling clumps, as it is for me to design and build the sucker. Kinda takes away the incentive of hiring someone like me to do builds.

Why can't SL add a feature to land sales that allows for a a custom build to be transferred without selling the land back and forth? JUST THE OBjECTS on the land that have my ID on them sold to the owner. Then, if she decides to move she could do one sale for the house and one for the land. If the new owners wanted to keep the build, great ... its where it needs to be and they can edit cause it goes in their name. If they don't like it but love the land, great. They do mass select and delete the whole thing. Or sell it to someone else who uses mass select without link, but then your back to ownership issues of the individual prims. *sigh*

Some might ask why not use Group Deed process. Well, we asked Satu about that. She is reknown for moving whole cities and such, but she said it doesn't always work, and if you have a lot of members/officers in your group, then you run a risk of losing the land and the build to a greedy officer. This is silly. There has got to be a better way to do this.

HELP!!!!

Some ways to do it
Edit :hoover above build : click drag over entire build :copy to inventory : give a copy to buyer (hope they know how to rotate and place huge builds ;p)

i done this with builds that where 45x45x45 size, bigger then that good luck :P

Also another way is to select alot of prims as possible you can link,
link them : lock :
select a few more link :lock:
to you got all, then unlock

set each damn thing for sale

yes i know this is teh suck, i had some builds that where 380x380m , about 1550 prims, quite the task of handing it over

(i made every piece i set for sale in a diffrent color so they could buy it then change it back to white, so i knew wich part they got)

Did this on a entire sim build once, was...so not fun (before group deeding things)

I already mentioned both those methods and noted their flaws. Guess my writings hard to read because I seem to have this type of response in SL forums ... replys that repeat what I already pointed out. I am looking at those options now. Stinks they need a better way to do this.
