Group showing as (???)

Hi all, I have a problem with one of my land ownership groups. I thought I'd ask here in hopes someone else has had this problem before tackling the LL Help Center.

So basically on any of my objects if I set them to this particular group it shows as (???) for the group name. This also extends to the group owned Land.

Also the title bit right at the top of the Group window has '(???) - Group Information'


Has anyone seen this before? It seems to be stopping me from running scripts on my group owned land.

oh and this also shows when others view the land, object or group info page, so its not just my AV. Also this has been ongoing for the past 2 days now.

A restart of the sim and a clear cache fixed this for me. I think the clear did more than the restart, but since I did both at the same time, can't narrow it down.

I cant see how the cache has anything to do with other non members seeing this problem but I will give it a go.

As for a sim restart it doen't matter if its on my land held buy that group or not. I can be in a completely independent Sandbox and still have the same problem.

To me it seems like a database issue with that particular group but I am no expert so its a very big guess.

Im thinking of disbanding the group and making a new one as a quick fix but this would also mean I will not be able to use that group name again.

This happened once on an estate I help out with... the tenant's building was showing (???) instead of the group name. Eventually he replaced the building and it fixed itself.

But the reason he had to replace the building was, it was *returned* to his inventory as a result of the parcel being full when other objects were rezzed on it (not by him!). It was group-owned land, so I have assumed the group not showing properly had something to do with it...

I dont think thats right either I am the group owner and the 3 other members are my Alts..so I know its not because of parcel limits

Well I quickly logged on during my lunch break and it seems that the problem is no more.. I will have a closer look tonight to make sure.

Well it seems, its not just one or a few persons.. in the last 48 hours i have been getting reports from people that my security orbs where literally killing them, but they are in the same group!, after checking, the group is either (waiting) or (???) so there is something wrong with the asset again or with the way LL messes about with their code. not sure wich of both.

If there is a fix, i would like to know, taking back and redropping them didnt work a thing.

I've sent a bunch of support ticket on this. Looks like an issue that's not going away any time soon.

i started having the same (???) group display problem this morning. If anyone hears of a fix please post it here. I tried clearing my cache and relaunching Second Life, but that did not help.
