Should I get a new Graphics Card?

Hi everyone!

I recently bought a new laptop (HP Pavillion dv6000) which runs an Intel graphics card ,as well as Vista Premium. Stupid me, I didn't think to check the SL recommendations before buying it, so SL doesn't run optimally. The graphics are...choppy, definitely not as smooth as I was used to. It runs, but frequently crashes the card whenever I get too fancy with my camera controls.

So, is my only option to get a NVIDIA/ATI card? Can anyone recommend the best card consdiring the specs of my computer and that I'm broke?

Thanks.

Definately go with an nvidia card, as far as what options you have for a laptop, I would say go to there websight.. www.nvidia.com, and see whats available.

It's a laptop. You are 99.9% likely to be completely SOL. Laptop video is very rarely upgradeable, as the graphics chip is often soldered right to the motherboard.

Well, just an update (not that anyone cares, but someone else may run into the same problem)...

Like I mentioned, I could run SL, only the graphics were a bit choppy. As luck would have it, an auto update for the graphics card driver popped up last night. I installed the driver, and now I can't even log in.

So, long story short, I called the computer store where I bought this laptop only a few months ago, and my only option is to sell this one and get a new one.

/me stomps off, pouting.
