Any suggestions? I recently purchased a new computer which is considered a "gaming computer". I've updated all my drivers and I run all my settings as low as they can go and I get 8-10 FPS. On my other computer, which is older, and a Radeon X1300, I get close to 45 FPS. Why is this and how can I up the FPS on my new computer up?

(i.e. Athlon X2, Pentium D, Core2 Duo?) If so, check out the sticky at the top of this forum. You need to set SL's affinity for only one core. Also, I owuld reccomend trying the ATI Omega Drivers. http://www.omegadrivers.net Many STI owners have seen noteable improvements using these drivers with SL. _____________________

Awesome replies, thanks guys.
I'm sure it's probably a simple fix. The way I understand it, SL doesn't like dual core processor's, so I unchecked the CPU 1 and left CPU 0 checked in the affinity under the task manager for SL. It seems to increase the FPS but is still a bit slow. I'll try checking out the omegadrivers. Thanks. |

ok, I'm still get low FPS. It's better. But it's still at 15-20 FPS. The computer I specifically have is a Gateway FX510S.
http://www.gateway.com/products/GConfig/proddetails.asp?mtr=DCYPBOEHA&system_id=fx510s&seg=hm&sg=hm&ph1=8773622208 While my other computer which has a Radeon X1300, the gateway that I mentioned above has a Radeon X1900 and gets slower fps. Does this make sense? |

hmmm mostly around 15-20 FPS too with a quite similiar system:
Dual Core (Core2 Duo) with 1.86 GHz, 2 GB RAM and an ATI 1950 Graphics Card. 15-20 FPS with many avatars around though (around 8-10 in close, maybe more). Without many Avatars around I get around 45 fps. That is after I did two things: Switch to the Omega drivers was step one. and use the FirstLook client was step two. I didn't set any CPU affinity for SL yet. |
