If you have an Nvidia graphics card, and all the dependenices necessary for WineX installed, you should be able to get SecondLife running under winex. I've put together an extremely bad, but self-contained hacked winex, that should install secondlife for you, into your home directory. More details are avaliable here: /invalid_link.htmlNear the bottom of the page. If your not totally braindead like me, you'll be able to do a much better job yourself, so don't download this. If you are totally braindead like me, this should get you up and running. Most of the real research/work was done by others, but I figured by posting this I could encourage someone to do a good job of it I'll keep playing with it on my ATI card, but it seems to not want to work. (Keeps complaining about the bit depth)

Yeah, SL apparently wants "32 bit" color. Linux's "24 bit" color ain't good enough for it. Heh.

Made some minor configuration file changes.
Wine should be looking in the right places now.

I had this 32 bit issue too, then again I'd be lucky to get it working in the first place: ATI user.
From the research I did I read that 32 bit support was an X server limitation..which the newer versions might fix.
Has anyone tried doing this with an ATI card?

But even that would suck, because who would want to listen to a whining wussy toaster? Is he gold plated? If that's the case he should just be melted down into gold ingots. Help the economy some, and stop being so damn useless you stupid bucket of bolts! R2 is 1,000 times more useful than your tin man ass, and he's shaped like a salt and pepper shaker FFS!

Cool.
Now for a Custom Knoppix Distro that'll fit on a 3" disc.

You know, I've tried to sell the other developers on a SL-centric LiveCD distribution.
It will probably happen someday, but we're not on the fast track.
