I type in my correct username and password and immediately after I hit 'login' this message appears:

Unavailable to connect to server.
Could not resolve domain name: userserver.agni.lindenlab.com
please check your network connection

I get this message when my internet is disconnected, but it clearly isn't as I can browse my internet, log into other online games, and use my instant messanger ...

I've tried rebooting, reinstalling SecondLife, turning off my firewalls, logging in under different user names, and switching my connection on and off many times ...

I have a freind on my instant messanger who is trying to help me out but we can't figure out what the problem is. She had the same message earlier today but fixed it after switching her internet off and back on ... She logged in hours ago.

grrrrrrrr
can anyone help me..?

Ive never had this problem before

Can you click Start > Run, type "cmd", hit "OK", then at the prompt, type "ping userserver.agni.lindenlab.com"?

Do you get replies? The values you're looking for are in the "time=" column. (If you're not sure, right-click the command prompt window, then select "mark", then drag-select the results, hit enter to copy, then come back here and paste them into a response here.)

If you're getting replies, try a traceroute: "tracert userserver.agni.lindenlab.com". Does it manage to get to "Trace complete." without any timeouts? If not, where does it break? (If you don't want to reveal your network details to everyone here, you can send me a private message on the forums here and I'll get it.)

Try reloading SL using the full download rather than the update located here http://secondlife.com//downloads/index.php making sure any firewalls, antivirus and anything Norton's is turned off first.

If that doesn't work, try this in this order.

Turn off your computer, router, modem(unplug from the wall if there is no switch). Unplug the modem from the cable coax (assuming you are using cable internet). Let it sit for at least 10 minutes.

After waiting 10 minutes plug the coax back into the modem then turn it back on and let it connect. Once it is showing all lights plug in/turn on the router if you use one and let it connect. You should see an activity light flashing on the modem. Last thing is to turn on the computer and let it boot. Turn off any firewalls and see if it connects. If it does then try with the firewalls on.
