I was in my plot in Butsu building when I noticed the terrain in my mini-map go red. I stopped editing the prim i was tweaking and tried to stand up, sit down, walk ... nothing. Then i tried to teleport to the nearest hub. The teleport failed. I was stuck in place. Then I just logged off. Now I can't get back in.

This wasn't the first time this happened to me. I don't understand WHY this happens especially if I'm not working on a script. I was just texturing a prim. Plus, I was the only person in the sim. I have no idea what would trigger such a thing to happen and it's downright frustrating.

Cuz if it's not triggered then it's random. And that means I just randomly crash/freeze whenever. I'd like to log into the grid and stay there for as long as I can and log off when I feel like it. Not log in, madly dash around to get things done, only to crash the moment some electronic fart happens in gawd knows where. Anyhoo ...

/end whine :p

By the time the map turns red, you're typically already disconnected from Second Life (at least partially). You can't teleport because you're not connected to your home region (and thus can't get handed off).

I don't see any server-side crashes for that region from this weekend, though it did manually shutdown and restart Saturday evening. (I haven't asked a grid person yet to see if there was a reason we know of.)

As always, be careful when using wireless or third-party internet security software, as wireless interruptions, or firewall software in "aggressive" mode, can also cause these symptoms.
