Unable to launch SL

Been having issues today - new person and I haven't yet been able to launch the SL program.

My first issue was with VIA AGP out-of-date drivers and those have since been updated and 'should' no longer be an issue.
I also updated video card drivers and directx drivers
I am running Norton Anti-Virus 2005 and have secondlife.exe permitted
Windows Firewall is not active
Also have Windows Defender

System Information:
Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2
AMD Athlon Processor 1.20 GHz (I know speed is below rec but is above req)
512 mb Ram
DirectX 9
Video Card: nVidia GeForce 6200 OC, 256 mb DDR
DSL Connection - no wireless connections and no firewalled router
(Please advise if anyone needs additional information on the system)

When I double click the Second Life icon... it goes to 'Detecting Hardware', then 'Loading Second Life' and then the Second Life Crash Logger appears and all comes to a crashing halt.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the SL program (and downloaded the most recent version). Same results.

So... if anyone could lend any assistance to this situation, I would be grateful. Even if I can get to a point where the program launches and I walk around for five minutes, I'd be happy - it'd be progress from where I am at now (sending crash reports, reading forums to try and find a solution and looking at all the fancy little pictures).

Thanks in advance...

I tried to run another 3d program and it gave me a nvoglnt.dll error. Even though the SL just shuts itself off, I believe this situation may be the case with my SL problem. (The card I mentioned earlier is new)

Using research I found online, I used DriverCleaner Pro to uninstall ALL my old video drivers. I also uninstalled SL once again. Reboot and such. I then reinstalled my current card drivers and then reinstalled the most recent version of SL. STILL, I run into the issue where the program will start up and then just shut off before reaching the opening window.

So... have there been issues with Second Life running into conflicts with the nvoglnt.dll (an nVidia Open GL .dll file)?

If I can't figure out how to get this working... well, it has been nice not meeting everybody.
