ok I just recently upgraded my OS from 2000 Advance Server to XP Pro. I updared drivers, etc. Now when I log on after about 30 minutes my video starts to flip out. Avatars disappear including my own but not all thier attachments, objects will disappear but buildings seem ok, the interface including chat will disappear. If they come back up they will appear distorted and blocky. Restarting the game resolves the problem only for a few minutes and a full restart of my system will just seem to reset the initial timer. Either way if I try to fihgt and ignore it it will crash the game everytime within 5 minutes of starting. I uninstalled, rebooted, and reinstalled. downloaded and installed the old drivers for the Geforce2 cards as well and none of it is working. I can't call LL during tech hours as I am at work or going to work while they are open. HELP!

stats! I can guess and stuff, but i dont really know what you are running that on at all, either drivers are "winxp compitable junk" , the flipping out thing sounded like how i got when my memory got corrupt, i get ugly lines all over the place, and things would be like a freak show after awhile funny thing it still worked, tested ram,, fail fail fail fail, good thing i have unlimited warranty on them

Haven't had a chance to gather exact stats but system is 1.2 GHz with 786MB Ram at least. I did no hardware changes between the OS upgrade. I did add a router and Nortan AV.

I started with most up to date drivers. At suggetsion of the client I downgraded to the old drivers (which totally messed up two hours of video setup)...and still it flips out. I'll have to wait till I get home tonight to get system stats since noone is at my house and even if they were they can't get in to the system. (dam peeping pervs).

ok here's an update I tried with the old drivers the support wiki suggests and it causes general client lag and the avatars around me to do al l sorts of wierd mishaping. The up to date drivers is causing the crash and the disappearing avatars but runs smooth until that happens it seems. Gonna try to find older drivers and install each set until I find a happy medium since it appears to be the video card drivers.

Where are you getting the latest drivers from your video card? Nvidia's site?

From Nvidia's site is where all the drivers are coming from. SO far I have tested 6 drivers and all have failed between the versions that SL supports and the new version. I'm tempted just to go out and buy a new one but really can't yet.

What's the exact name of the Norton product you installed? If it's anything other than vanilla Antivirus (i.e. the words SystemWorks or Internet Security enter the conversation), it could be responsible. http://secondlife.com/tiki/tiki-index.php?page=TechConfigFirewall

It actually was a combination of XP and the video card it would seem. I went out and bought a new 256 MB All in Wonder and so far it seems to work. Will test it more tonight after I investigate another problem that caused this situation to begin with. I should have an answer after an hour of game time easily. Edit: Lee just for the record it was straight off the shelf Nortan AV.
