Why is the crouch animation broken, and is it broken for anyone else?

I find that if I crouch while walking, when I stop walking, my avatar starts convulsing. In 1.6 it's even worse -- my avatar starts warping through space! :eek:

Attached is a video that I captured with Fraps that illustrates what I'm talking about, if you have, for some reason, never seen it before. It's an XVID AVI file (in theory, anything that can read AVI files and play MPEG-4 video should be able to play it), wrapped in a zip archive because the forums don't allow AVI files as attachments.

Oh, also, out of curiosity, if any Lindens happen to read this: is there any chance in the future that the crouch animation will no longer be purely cosmetic and actually allow us to walk under things that our avatars would otherwise be too large to fit under?

Are you runnning an AO or anything else that takes over animations?

I tried crouch, and walked around without that happening...

But everyone in SL sees things a little different..hehe

HAHAHA! Gabriel, damn, thanks for making this post, I'm glad I'm not going un-crazy ('cuz I already am crazy). I just noticed this yesterday while hanging out with Torrid, Launa, and Metis. I filed a bug report too and it seems like "warping through space" is a great description. Heck, I'm a time-traveller but this shiznit ain't supposed to happen! It's kinda cool but that cool effect is negated when you take into effect only the clientside avatar doing it sees things so hyper. Other avatars around will see you spazzing, but likely in one place and not all over the room (more or less).

I have witnessed this behaviour as well.

To reproduce: Walk first and then crouch while walking. Once crouched, stop walking. The avatar will begin flashing between two locations. The longer you hold it, the farther apart the locations become.

I just began noticing this in 1.6.

Nope. It's always happened as long as I've been playing SL (which is since around 1.4.2), minus the space-warping. That didn't start until 1.6.

Anyone file a good detailed Bug Report on this? If it's reproducable it's definitely something we can check out.

Maybe its just me, but I notice it when your walking on objects, and not on soild terran. Oh, and it's very reproducable. Just crouch and walk on any floor or roof and such made of objects, then stop walking while still crouched.

I was able to reproduce this as well just by accident when I started my SL trial period. SL'ians around me noticed me "bugging" out as well. I just simply crouched and move forward some. The character dissapears and then reappears about a few steps ahead within about a second lapse. It keeps doing this and the amount of steps ahead increase and if I'm not mistaken the character dissapears/reappears a little more quicker. I didn't do it for too long though to see if anything else happens.
