So, i've had these problems with my video card ... it's an ati radeon 9000 32mb ... it's the bare minimum that the programmers say I need to run the game, thats fine because I can walk around talk with people, do stuff, but before I do all that I want to change my 2nd lifer into a man, being that I started the game as a woman, is this the only option??

I try and try to change my appearance, hair, eyes etc etc, but every single time, 5 times and counting, the game crashes on me and my PC freezes and I have to restart.

I've tried updating to the omega drives, yes it's a little better, maybe I can change my eye brows with out it crashing, but thats it, anything for more than 30 seconds in the appearance section and it freezes....

Now I understand that having this 32mb card may cause problems, so why not make it so that the minimum is 64mb so then I would be prepared before signing up...

So now I am stuck, I want to play the game, but I have to fork out some dosh to upgrade my video card...

Geeeez

If anyone could give Silver some suggestions, it would really be appreciated! I tried helping him out in the Welcome Area earlier today, but since I use an Nvidia graphics card, I'm not very familiar with the issues surrounding ATi cards.

I'm no techie-- in the game a couple of weeks. I had a similar card with similar problems.
I went around with no pants for a long time! Got some cute comments :)

I saw enough to make me want to hang in, so I put out 40 bucks for the ATI 64mb card. It's a whole lot better, and now I have some cool clothes and 3 av styles... but SL is still a stop and go thing. So I'm in for 10 dollars, and the card works great for my other 3d modeling stuff, etc. My monitor has never had finer display.

Who knows? Maybe SL will get better. Some days almost everything works fine. The main trouble i'm having now is traveling across sims with various fliers, etc.

Good luck, either way.
Hmmm,,, I wonder what a 256mb card would do?

Well if you decide to upgrade a new video card will probably be good for you in the future besides just for SL. Its a good investment.
