Severe lag bursts are making things impossible

I was in the game for about 15 mins tonight and had to quit after great frustration over the severe lag bursts going on on the grid. The red bar on the top right didn't even go down, it was constant red the entire time. Someone else IM'ed me who had problems too. The lag is so bad I can't move or do anything other than IM. PLEASE look into this! Thank you!

I think you mean packet loss, not lag. I've seen horrible packet loss lately, peaking as high as 75% for short periods, in certain sims. In my home sim, I see normal packet loss (2% or less). I'm on a 6mb/512k cable modem, and since it doesn't occur in all sims, I'm sure it is not my connection/client. LL definitely has their work cut out for them fixing this....

Tonight it is really bad!

I noticed it starting a couple of nights ago...it seems worse when we cross 14000 people in-world.

It's terrible, and you are most certainly not alone. I had to relog 4 times to even be able to use IM and group chat, and still couldn't use the map or teleport anywhere.

Problems like this are precisely what's keeping me (and many others) from taking the step forward to premium account. Why should I pay monthly for barely useable chat on an overly lagged server?

...Its getting worse.. I posted earlier in this thread, about seeing bursts of pkt loss as high as 75%.. The last couple of nights, I've seen bursts of as high as 300%.. (Anybody want to try and explain HOW you can get more than 100% pkt loss??) .. It makes building absolutely impossible, even walking is nearly impossible. Several "experts" both here and in-world have tried to tell me its my system.. ummm I don't think so.. P4-D/2.8ghz,2gb ram, NvidiaGF6200 256mb video, 6mb/512k cable modem connection... I've been thru all the recommended adjustments, and nothing helps.. I've found that the only time things are somewhat stable is VERY early in the morning (4-6am SL/PT), ie: when there's only ~10k people on... The problem seems to be getting worse, and of course, I'm not even talking about the excessively slow rezzing of inventory.. It takes between 5-10min to change clothes most times now.. Or how about where you t/p somewhere from your home, and then t/p back to your home a min later, and you t/p onto an empty lot, then during the next minute or so, you watch your house pop back into view VERY slowly.. Silly me.. I thought that was what the large cache on my hard drive was for, to keep things like this cached, rather than hitting the asset server... Its getting so bad, I just couldnt see paying $32.50/mo for this, so last month I sold my land and went back to basic.. I'd thought to stick around to see all the friends I'd made over the last year and half, but now, even that seems to be a waste of my time... Sorry about the rant, but ever since LL went insane (or so it appears), SL has been going into the tank.. I KNOW I can't be the only thinking this....

I know. This is rediculous!

Today I decided to come back to SL (After being gone for 4 months) and I can't even move! The lag is so bad. I thought it was my own internet connection at first, but after reading this thread I can see I'm not alone.

I've had so much fun in SL. I have tried hundreds of online games to replace SL and none of them are as great and as enjoyable. It's a dam shame.

I really hope this lag problem is fixed. I really miss being in SecondLife.

pfaah, SL cant handle weekends, period, never been one i can remember where there didnt have a issue, crashing, database problem, rezzing, creating, ect.

But then again SL been going downhill for months now, hey lets make more money!, jack up sim prices, yeah that should get more people in pfaa...
