new pc with vista windows = problems

Hello. i got a new pc last night. downloaded sl and installed. tried to run sl today and it crashes before it can even load up the client. no details are given on why it crashes. my pc stats that i know are

Operating System: Windows Vistaâ„¢ Home Basic
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 4400 @ 2.00GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.0GHz
Card name: 256MB ATI Radeon X1300PRO

not sure what other information is helpful or how to find it ! but if i can get it through a dxdiag let me know

all suggestions are great !!!

I have the exact same card. Or.. X2300 but it's basically a X1300

The problem is that you don't have OpenGL support in the vista catalyst drivers.

Check out my post for how I solved it.

Crashes

Hi, I had the same problem. I happened to have a ati 300 se card and i installed it. The onboardvideo chip was not handling the 3d graphics and was crashing after log in. The new graphic card works great and SL is now smooth. Remember to update the drivers. The card did not work untill I got the new catalist package from ATI. When vista origally installed the card it had the old drivers and SL did not even run.
