Yesterday, when I Teleported to one of my hang outs, my avatar came out as a woman. I'm not a woman. When I changed it back to a man, my shape wasn't the one I spent forever perfecting. Does anyone know how to fix this?

The effect you saw is something called "ruthing" or being "ruthed". Ruth was the original default avatar, and there is an ancient bug that causes people to occasionally appear to revert to that form, especially right after TPing or logging in. The effect is usually transitory and usually it's safest to just wait for your normal form to re-appear. Usually when you go about trying to "fix" it, you end up applying an old copy of a shape or something along those lines. This bug has been around longer than I have (10/2005) and gets less or more common over time. Right now it's epidemic. I even wrote a song about it recently, which I've been performing at my shows. You can listen to it at my music myspace: http://www.myspace.com/kaklickband it's the one called "the ballad of ruth".

I think "rebaking" the Avatar's textures can speed up recovery.
