ok ,basically the problem is i'm trying to start SL and, when i do, right after it finishes detecting hardware, it open the window with a black screen and it only stays up maybe 1-2 seconds before SL crashes and bring up the crash logger. i have tried clearing cache, deleting all local settings kept in Application Data/Second Life on my computer, uninstalling and downloading the client again from the website and installing it, and restarting my computer. nothing has helped, it still crashes. so, anyone think they can help? it doesn't give any error messages either.

I hear Xfire maybe the problem. If you have Xfire running while trying to play Second Life, close it and try to run Second Life again.

Seems there is a problem with the recent Xfire update. I have the same problem, whereby if I log into my xfire before Second Life, the game constantly crashes before I can even log into it. I find that restarting my computer, then going into the game without loading Xfire works all the time.

Still waiting for a fix. x1900xtx, core 2 duo (e6400), did this both on an x64 xp and x64 vista install. Still nothing. Toggled xfire. Still nothing.
