How to figure out what's slowing down a Sim?

I have some land in a sim (Hiaka) that's been very slow in the last few weeks. The "time dilation" statistic for the sim is routeinly dipping down below 0.5, which means that everything is moving slowly, motion is jerky, etc.

Neighboring sims are faster, with a nice normal 0.99 time dilation.

Clearly there's *something* in the sim that's bogging it down. Now, there are more than a thousand scripted objects in the sim... but there are scripts and there are scripts. Most of them are probably low-stress scripts that don't make a real big difference.

Is there anyway to identify just what object or objects in a sim are eating up most of the server capacity? I'd like to figure that out so that (a) if it's something of mine, I can say oops and fix it, or (b) if it's somebody else's, I can ask them to fix it.

Thanks.

When you say "more than 1000 scripts", it sounds like it's not far enough over to call it "1500" or "2000", so I'd say you're fine as far as sheer volume of scripts. In my experience, the sheer volume of scripts makes a much bigger impact on overall sim performance than the actions of a few intensive scripts. I think you'd be better off looking in other directions.

First of all, do you have lots of physical objects? Open up the control-shift-1 stats, and then click "Time (ms)" at the bottom. Watch it for a minute or two to try to get an idea for the average values, and then post those here. What I'd be most interested in are "Physics" and "Agent".

Another question: how many people on average are there in your sim?

Is there any correlation between dilation spikes and people teleporting in?

It's one of the about 1500 scripts there.. With just me in the sim and only 1 child agent, script hovers around 15ms and peaks over 30ms. The only other stat over 1ms was 'other' but that was under 2ms. This is indeed an unhappy sim.

Haika is mainland so unless one of your neighbors fesses up, you'll have to find & bribe a Linden grid monkey to track down the problem.

If you find that you're the only one in the sim (main agents = 1), you can try doing a help request and asking if they can restart the region - could be that some script has gotten confused and needs a kick.
