Hi, I'm relatively new so I don't know whether this just happens on my machine or whether this bug has been around so long that noone mentions it any more. If the latter it should be fixed because it makes SL look really unprofessional.
The bug is that when avatars are rendered at over some distance (I'd guess maybe 16m), their legs point off to one side and appear disconnected from the torso. That's the main problem (I can provide screenshots if necessary). Some times even at closer distances hair moves independently from the head. And as for attachments like hats, they could get rendered in any number of places, but that's not such a big deal because most people don't wear them. It's the legs thing that bugs me most.

This hasn't happened to me and I have no advice to give you ... sorry Maybe someone who knows computers well can help you. I've never heard of this.

From: Moleculor Satyr Try clicking the Avatar Vertex Program box. Good call. It's on by default. Turning it off fixed the problem. I guess the vertex shader used by the SL engine doesn't work on my card (Ati FireGL 8800). It's running the latest catalyst drivers, but in spite of the name of the card in question, Ati's OpenGL support has always been pretty shoddy so I wouldn't expect anything as advanced as programmable shader extensions to work reliably (the card is really just a re-badged Radeon 8800 - pretty old now but you know, I'm skint). I've attached some pics of the bug incase anyone was wondering what I was talking about. 1 & 2 show the legs thing. 6 shows the hair rendering in the wrong place relative to the head. 8 shows everything working after turning the avatar shader program off.

Your description sounded like the thousands upon thousands upon trillions of other similar complaints I've seen/heard over the millenia I've been a deity, so it was a simple matter to deduce.
