I bet SL has crashed 60 times since the updates and I am not exagerating. What's the deal?

Moved to Technical Issues.

I've had a few nasty crashes myself, and I really do hope you'll be crashing less. I've seen several posts like this come up on the forums. :\ I'm going to copy-and-paste this general advice...

First basic steps are to uninstall and reinstall SL completely, and making sure that you meet the System Requirements, also be certain your graphics card drivers are up-to-date. More info on how to do that is here: http://secondlife.com/tiki/tiki-index.php?page=TechUpdateGraphics

Please be sure to send in your crash logs--that box that comes up whenever SL crashes. More info will help us fix it. Go to PREFERENCES > GENERAL tab and at the bottom, CRASH REPORTS should be "Always send".

You can also contact Support for further assistance. Best of hope with this.

Your crash logs indicates that your ATI graphics drivers are from Aug-2004. Please update them using the steps Torley linked as soon as possible.

I too would like a Lite version that works with my hardware since a Radeon 9600 is now "Unsupported" as it's crashing all over the place. I just want to have an AV and chat with my friends, I could care less about super bumpmapping 5000 or particleeffectsoflag 30x. No other program that I play both online MMOs and offline crash...at all! It really angering me since people are making things for me and I'm there one minute and 10 seconds later gone...

A 9600 is DEFINATLY supported and ought to work fine. A Lite version wouldn't help as your card has the capability to run SL just fine.

These crashes mystify me somewhat. On my main rig ( don't play the other rigs enough to be 100% sure they're stable ) it's absolutely rock stable for me. But Torley ( higher spec rig ) and you ( lower spec rig ) both crash.

I don't envy the developers because it appears the hardware aspect is so variable.

For the record my main rig is :-
AMD 3800+ X2 Processor running overclocked to 2.2Ghz
2 gig Geil Ram
X1800XT Graphics
Asus A8R-MVP Mobo

Catalyst 6.2 Drivers
Windows XP Pro fully uptodate.

I wear flexi prim hair, often flex clothes and the main sim I work in has local lights setup. I have settings pushed quite high including AA and AF.
